My name is Dacia Banks. I am the Director of Financial Aid at Morrisville State College.  I am gearing up for the new academic year, as I am sure you are too.  What a very exciting time for you.  Now that you are narrowing down your choices, it is time to think finances.  The thought on everyone’s mind in this day and time is…can we afford college?

For some that is an easy yes, for most it will take some planning.  Below are a few steps that will hopefully alleviate any fears on how the process works.

#1- Apply for an FSA ID
Apply for an FSA ID. Your ID will enable you to “sign” documents  electronically, access your Student Aid Report (SAR) online and make corrections to your FAFSA through the web. Both the parent and student must each apply for an FSA ID, using separate email addresses. If you have applied for aid in past years, you can reuse your FSA ID.

#2- Complete the FAFSA
You may begin filing for financial aid any time after January 1st.  Your parents will need to have their federal taxes completed for this step, if you are filing taxes you will too.  (

#3- Access your Financial Aid Award
You will receive a notice from the college with instructions on how to access your award.  If your FASFA is selected to be verified you will also receive a request for additional documentation.

Please note that all awards are subject to change and you will not always receive notification.  You want to monitor your Web for Student account frequently.

Know that you can contact the Financial Aid Office with any questions you may have at 315-684-6289 or via email at .  Congratulations and good luck in this next chapter of your life!
