Morrisville State College will welcome a new class of freshmen, transfer and returning students during Welcome Weekend Aug. 20-23.  Classes begin Aug. 24 at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses.

Student athletes will be among those assisting with moving new students into their residence hall rooms. First-year and transfer students will begin arriving on Aug. 20 (between 8 a.m.-2 p.m.) followed by returning and readmitted students on Aug. 23 (starting at 9 a.m.).

Welcome Weekend is an opportunity for students to become familiar, or reacquaint themselves, with the Morrisville campus and all it has to offer. Activities include check-in for new students, informational sessions, classroom tours, laptop orientations, and AT&T cellular phone distribution.

There will also be various activities throughout the weekend including a Mustang Social for new students to get acquainted, a presentation by a hypnotist, recreational activities and movies.

Sizzling Saturday festivities are planned from 4-8 p.m. Aug. 22, including a DJ and mechanical bull riding. From noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 23, all students can join in the Super Sunday festivities, which include a DJ and make your own tie dye T-shirts and street signs. These events will be held in the Academic Quad by the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC) with a rain location in Hamilton Hall.

All new students—first-year, transfer, and readmitted students, campus resident and commuters, will be greeted by the entire faculty and administration, including the president and deans, during an Academic Welcome Ceremony which will be held on Aug. 21 at 2 p.m. in Hamilton Hall. This short ceremony will welcome new students to campus and is the official opening of the school year.

This year’s enrollment class includes students hailing from Canada, Japan, China, Vietnam, Cameroon, South Korea and Kazakhstan. More than 1,100 incoming students (freshmen and transfer) are expected to be welcomed throughout the weekend.
